 PTA News

8:15-9:00am in the Frankford Library

Mark Hundley, M.Ed, LPC-S presents:

"What do we do now, Daddy?"

Every child will experience loss and grief, whether it be the death of a pet, a friend moving away, the death of a grandparent, divorce, or even the death of a parent. We cannot prevent our children from feeling the pain of loss, but we can equip ourselves to help our children cope during the grieving process.

Mark Hundley and his daughter have together journeyed through such a loss.  He is a licensed therapist, school counselor, a consultant, a speaker, and an author.  Most notably, he is the co-founder of  Journey of Hope, a non-profit agency in Plano that provides free grief support to children, adolescents and their parents as they learn to mourn the death of a loved one.

2017 Red Ribbon Week Oct 23-27

Welcome to Red Ribbon Week! This year's theme is: "Your Future is Key, so Stay Drug Free".

Check out our exciting calendar of events & activities this week and don't forget to dress up each day with some unique themes!

Did you know?...Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don't, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.  Frankford parents, take the time with your children to pledge to set guidelines to help children grow up safe, healthy and drug-free. Here's how:

Sign the pledge: http://redribbon.org/pledge/

What's the Pledge about?

  1. As parents and citizens, we will talk to our children and the children in our lives about the dangers of drug abuse.
  2. We will set clear rules for our children about not using drugs.
  3. We will set a good example for our children by not using illegal drugs or medicine without a prescription.
  4. We will monitor our children's behavior and enforce appropriate consequences, so that our rules are respected.

We will encourage family and friends to follow the same guidelines to keep children safe from substance abuse.

Welcome from the PTA President

Welcome to all of our FMS families. My name is Alisa Makler and I'm president of the Frankford PTA for the 2017-18 school year. I am excited to be back at FMS with my 6th grader, and I have two high school kids who are Frankford alums  - both had great experiences here!

Many of you have already joined our PTA and made generous donations of your time and money to support us. For that, we thank you so much. We do not hold typical fundraisers that you may be used to from elementary school (like cookie dough sales, auctions, carnivals, etc). Instead, we have a simple donation campaign where 100% of the funds raised go directly back to our school. Please consider this if you can. In addition to the obvious ways your PTA supports Frankford, there are other benefits to joining and volunteering. You will meet new people, have a voice, and you will be in the know. Also, please like us on Facebook (Frankford Middle School PTA) it is another easy way to stay connected.

It is an honor to serve Frankford and I look forward to getting to know you all. Reach out to me and I'll be happy to help, answer questions or find someone who can. Please get involved. It's worth it!

                                                                                                                                                                                      Alisa Makler

PTA Membership

Please join our PTA and support the many programs at Frankford. Membership provides immediate access to the online directory, and receipt of our e-mail newsletter, the Frankford Flash. The Flash provides communication about upcoming events and programs at Frankford.

At Frankford, we do not plan to implement any additional fundraisers. Instead, we ask for donations, which are 100% tax deductible. A recommended donation of $50 per child allows us to provide every child with agenda, supports the in-school and family programs, classroom enhancements, student incentives and rewards, teacher and staff appreciation, and much, much more. Unlike traditional fundraisers, 100% of your contribution goes to your PTA for exclusive use at Frankford. Please donate!

We appreciate your helping hands to staff our events and programs. Please join us! You can select specific events or become a "Happy to Help" Volunteer and we will contact you periodically as events are planned. Students needing hours for volunteer organizations are welcome and appreciated!  Volunteering is a great way to be involved at your child's school.

 PE Classes & Athletics

Students taking P.E. are required to wear a dress code compliant PE uniform.  It is suggested you have more than one set in case one gets lost, or doesn't come home for a while to visit the washing machine.

Seventh and eighth grade students enrolled in athletics are required to wear Frankford Athletics practice wear. Football especially is hot and sweaty, so consider purchasing more than one set.

No student will be allowed to participate in athletics (including practices and tryouts) without completing all athletic forms and turning in your health physical exam forms.

All athletic forms can be located and completed online at here. While this system will allow you to complete paperwork forms electronically online, you will still need to turn-in the medical forms found at: UIL Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form to the coaches.

PISD Stadium Rules can be read here. Admission fees: $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for students.

The Clark Field Map can be found here.
